A Mid-Century Moment in Bethesda: Staging 6916 Carmichael Ave
There are certain projects that stop you in your tracks — not because they’re difficult, but because they represent a moment of arrival. A culmination. A quiet “wow, we really did that.”
6916 Carmichael Ave is one of those homes.
When we wrapped the first-floor install, I stood back and felt equal parts proud, grateful, and honestly a little stunned — not just by the scale of the home, but by how clearly it reflected the evolution of Michael Fowler Creative over the last few years. The confidence. The restraint. The point of view. This project feels like a “best of” everything I’ve learned so far.
And at nearly 7,500 square feet, it had the room to let that vision breathe.
The Scale: A Rare Design Opportunity
This Bethesda property is enormous in the best possible way:
Six bedrooms
Eight bathrooms
Three living spaces
Multiple bars
Nearly 7,500 square feet of design potential

The Brief: Mid-Century, Reimagined
The directive was clear (and fun):
“Mid-Century… but make it luxurious, contemporary, and undeniably sexy.”
Say less.
We leaned into the iconic bones of Mid-Century Modern design — clean lines, sculptural silhouettes, and warm woods — but reinterpreted them for today’s high-end buyer. This wasn’t about nostalgia. It was about refinement.
Every piece was selected to feel intentional, elevated, and aspirational without veering into museum territory. The goal was a home that feels collected, not staged — confident, not cold.
Design Choices That Do the Heavy Lifting
Foxhall Homes delivered an exceptional product, and I’ll be the first to say they did much of the heavy lifting before I ever stepped inside. My job was to honor the architecture, enhance the flow, and give each space a clear identity.
Throughout the first floor, you’ll spot a mix of trusted favorites and brand-new inventory purchased specifically for this project. Clean, modern forms from Crate & Barrel, CB2, West Elm, and Four Hands Furniture felt like the natural choice — elevated but approachable, timeless but fresh. You can shop this entire staging via my ShopMy.
Warm woods anchor the spaces. Sculptural seating adds drama without overwhelming. Thoughtful styling moments guide the eye and help buyers understand how the home lives at scale.
This is staging designed to tell a story — one that buyers can immediately step into.

Looking Ahead
Homes like this are why I do what I do. They allow for bold decisions, thoughtful layering, and a fully realized point of view. This project is a reminder that staging isn’t about filling space — it’s about shaping perception and helping buyers fall in love.
