The Design Process

The Design Process

I make spaces as unique as the people that live there. Combining function and beauty to design places that inspire, create spaces that move, and curate all things home.

Here is how:

The Consult $300

It begins with a consultation.

During the 2-hr initial consultation, we will discuss anything you’d like. This can be about layout, paint consultation, or discuss your needs. Whatever you want or need, it’s your two hours! This is more or less a walk-through of the space and a discussion.

This is a great time to give me inspiration photos, Pinterest Boards, designers/designs you admire, or any house porn you tend to lust after.

A few sketches may be done during the meeting to communicate my ideas, but you won’t be given any plans or documentation at the end. If you feel like your problem is solved by the end of the consult, then great! Otherwise, we move on to the next step.

Room Design $1500 per space

This can be explained in three parts:

Vibe Check

I will spend time developing plans and ideas for your space. This will start as a general plan, with ideas on space planning and general aesthetics of the space. This is more to ensure we have a look and feel you want.

Fit Check

Once I have your approval, and we’ve established a budget and timeline, I will give you a spreadsheet with all the items we need to purchase for your space. I can order these on your behalf using your payment method of choice. I get trade discounts at most retailers. These are typically passed along to you. I don’t do markups. But I do keep the points and rewards.

You can have the items shipped to you and store them until installation, or I can store all of the items in my warehouse. If storage is necessary for a prolonged period (defined as more than a month), or for several pieces (defined as more than two), there will be a storage fee of $250/month as my storage space is limited.

I will ensure the contractor has what they need to execute any simple changes. However, if permits are needed or an architect is required to make structural changes, that will be an additional fee.

Check it out!

Once everything for your space has arrived, I will take care of the installation and make everything pretty. The lead times on items vary significantly from what we source. I have a team of movers and handymen that assist with constructing furniture and hanging art, etc. Their costs will be explained in the initial proposal. Typically, handymen are $125/hour depending on the needs, and the movers have a fairly standard rate of $500-600 per move.

Re-designs

I don’t always get it right the first time. We can keep trying until we get it right. However, once the design has been approved, any redesigns are $150/hr.

I think that’s everything. If you still have questions, feel free to reach out and email me.
