Provincetown Beach House

The inspiration for the home came from the striking water views, which informed our decisions about everything from furniture placement to height. We wanted the views to be the star and wanted there to be a great, unobstructed view from every seating area.

The other inspiration came from the bold bird artwork the homeowner found at a local art gallery, Art Love Gallery, from Ptown artist Theresa Sacknoff. I helped curate a selection of five out of about a hundred different iterations offered. Inspired by the artwork's rich colors, the homeowner and I decided to work with the blue background of one of the paintings as the paint color for the entire space.

I wanted to create an updated version of the quirky art-filled homes that Provincetown is known for. These homes are often filled with fabulous vintage art and antiques in a dark, moody color palette. I wanted this to be just as colorful but in an updated style and bright, happy color palette to match the magical setting.

The most unexpected and whimsical surprise during this renovation was when we removed a mirror hung by the previous owner. We discovered a porthole into the hallway that no one knew existed! A hilarious, quirky, only in Provincetown surprise! We sourced an excellent, fully functioning porthole mirror from Roots Home & Garden in Ptown to hang directly over the built-in porthole.

This home is available for short-term rentals on the West End in the Masthead Condominiums.
